At CMH, students from preschool through middle school are guided, challenged, and prepared for their futures using authentic Montessori lessons and materials. Our students are encouraged to explore and discover for themselves-innate desires we constantly, consistently support throughout their journey here. Nestled among seven acres of working gardens and natural woodlands, CMH is Cincinnati’s premier Nature Montessori school, fostering a high level of academic success within an outdoor setting few elementary schools in Cincinnati can match.
Our pre-primary program for preschoolers and kindergarteners aged three through six is not just the first stage of schooling- it’s the foundation of our entire educational approach and an important introduction to the three-year Montessori cycle.
Our lower elementary program is a natural continuation of the foundation formed in our pre-primary communities. From age 6-9 children are naturally curious. We encourage active, engaged learning by harnessing this inherent inquisitiveness through stories, interactive presentations and hands-on exploration.
In our upper elementary program, the next stage of study flows naturally from everything established in the lower elementary curriculum that has fully prepared our students with the basic skills of reading, writing and math. It is during these three years that students transition from learning with physical materials to learning abstractly.
Supporting adolescents ages 12-15 as they develop a tangible understanding of responsibility and the self-reliance they will need in adulthood. Our students will reach their full potential and prepare to enter adult life.
CMH has shared a rich tradition of Montessori education with generations of students and families, a heritage of excellence we’re proud to uphold and continue. At every level, our Montessori program has been intentionally designed to spark ideas, diligence and a desire to learn more. When students can fearlessly explore ideas at their own pace – both concrete and abstract, complex and simple, rudimentary and refined – they grow into confident, capable, independent thinkers who have a history of becoming world-leading innovators, movers and shakers.
